NetBlocks: Internet shutdown in Iran continues for 49th day
According to internet monitoring group NetBlocks, Iran’s nationwide internet shutdown has continued for 49 consecutive days, exceeding 1,152 hours.
“The internet shutdown in Iran has now entered its 49th day after incident hour 1152. International connectivity remains low, around 2% of ordinary levels, despite some users gaining partial access to the Google search home page, as was also observed in the January blackout,” the monitoring group said.
Earlier reports indicated that after more than 48 days of near-total blackout, limited internet access in Iran has begun to be restored, with users once again able to access Google search. However, an Iranian lawmaker stated today that restoring internet access is currently not in the country’s national interest.
