Türkiye’s nationwide drug sweep nets 894 suspects
More than 2.3 tons of drugs and over 4 million psychotropic pills have been seized in a nationwide anti-drug operation in Türkiye, while 894 suspects were detained, the country’s Interior Ministry said.
The operation was carried out over the past 10 days across 71 provinces as part of efforts to combat drug trafficking and distribution, TRT Haber reports.
More than 3,300 security personnel, 11 aircraft and 43 drug-detection dogs participated in the operation.
Authorities seized a total of 2 tons, 367 kilograms and 634 grams of narcotics, as well as more than 4 million psychotropic tablets, during the raids.
Of the 894 suspects detained, 424 were arrested, while 93 were placed under judicial control measures. Legal proceedings against the remaining suspects are continuing.
