Iranian speaker threatens US oil, gas assets
Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad-Bagher Ghalibaf has threatened US oil and gas assets in the region after US Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth warned that Washington would destroy Iranian tankers if Tehran attacked US Navy vessels.
In a post on X, he said the oil and gas production chain here is sprawling, accessible, and exposed and American companies across these waters and facilities share the same exposure, Caliber.Az reports.
“Strike our assets and you get struck. We’ve already proven it. Ask the bases that are no longer viable,” Ghalibaf wrote.
It’s simple: the oil and gas production chain here is sprawling, accessible, and exposed. American oil and gas companies across these waters and facilities share that exposure. Strike our assets and you get struck. We’ve already proven it. Ask the bases that are no longer viable. https://t.co/XiHAf6KzqV pic.twitter.com/0wBf40K4D3

On September 4, Hegseth stated that Iran’s tanker fleet was “defenseless” and that US aircraft, ships and submarines were capable of striking it.
