Armenia eyes role as key transit hub between Asia, Europe
Armenia aims to position itself as a transit hub for the supply of electricity and energy resources from Azerbaijan and Central Asian countries to Europe.
The remarks wer made by Armenia’s Deputy Foreign Minister Vahan Kostanyan during a panel session titled “South Caucasus: A Strategic Hub in the Making”, held on the sidelines of the Antalya Diplomacy Forum, Caliber.Az reports per local media.
Kostanyan also referred to the TRIPP project (“Trump Route”), highlighting its multimodal structure.
“This concerns rail and road infrastructure, as well as energy infrastructure — networks and pipelines. In this context, we have our own interest: to diversify Armenia’s energy supply and simultaneously become a transit hub for energy resources coming from Central Asia and Azerbaijan and destined for Europe,” he said.
