Armenian ambassador discusses expanding economic ties with US officials
Armenia’s Ambassador to the United States, Narek Mkrtchyan, met with US Chamber of Commerce Vice President Khush Choksy and Vice President for the Middle East, Central Asia, and Türkiye, Jennifer Miel, to explore avenues for deepening bilateral trade and investment.
The discussions highlighted strategies to enhance Armenian-American economic collaboration, identify emerging sectors for partnership, and support the growth of business ties in the wake of the agreements signed on August 8, Caliber.Az reports per Armenian media.
Particular attention was given to the "Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity" (TRIPP) initiative and potential collaboration in artificial intelligence, semiconductors, and energy.
The parties agreed to develop joint initiatives to further deepen Armenian-American economic relations.
The talks around the "Trump Route" are based on the trilateral summit held on August 8, 2025, at the White House, hosted by US President Donald Trump, which represented a significant diplomatic breakthrough in Armenia–Azerbaijan relations. During the summit, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, and President Trump signed a preliminary peace declaration.
This Washington summit—the first of its kind since the Soviet Union’s collapse—produced a joint declaration affirming sovereignty, territorial integrity, and the renunciation of force. It also set the stage for a draft peace agreement, titled Agreement on Establishment of Peace and Inter-State Relations between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Armenia, which was initialled by the foreign ministers of both nations.
A major achievement of the summit was the decision to establish the “Trump Route," commonly referred to as the Zangezur Corridor. The corridor is designed to connect mainland Azerbaijan with its Nakhchivan exclave through Armenian territory, creating new avenues for regional trade, transport, and connectivity.
