Armenian FM announces significant expansion of relations with EU
Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan has said that Armenia is currently undergoing a significant deepening of its relations with the European Union.
Speaking at a press conference with the Foreign Minister of Cyprus, Mirzoyan highlighted the ongoing developments in Armenia's partnership with the EU, Caliber.Az reports, citing Armenian media.
"The initiation of dialogue on visa liberalization and the decisions to provide Armenia with support through the European Peace Instrument are just two examples of closer cooperation, which are part of a broader picture. We are currently in a process of significantly deepening our relations with the EU, with a new partnership agenda in place. We are considering and working on new mechanisms and tools that can be utilized," Mirzoyan said.
He added, "The Armenian people, we have European aspirations, and the EU acknowledges these aspirations. Therefore, as I mentioned earlier, we are collectively thinking and working on new tools and mechanisms to bring Armenia closer to the EU and its member states, and vice versa. I would also like to reiterate a statement made by the Prime Minister of Armenia during his speech in the European Parliament: 'Armenia, for its part, is ready to approach the EU as closely as the EU deems possible.'"
Mirzoyan also mentioned that Armenia is not only working with the EU but also with the United States on a program aimed at "enhancing the resilience of the Republic of Armenia during these challenging times, considering the threats and challenges that exist in and around Armenia."
