Russian FM Lavrov criticises US for hindering bloodshed solutions
The bloodshed in the Gaza Strip is a serious international issue that cannot be ignored in the UN Security Council.
“The problem is that US is reluctant to allow any resolutions that would seriously address what everyone wants — an end to the bloodshed,” Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said at a press conference following talks with his Egyptian counterpart, Badr Abdel Ati, Caliber.Az reports via Russian media.
"We welcome any steps aimed at stopping the bloodshed as soon as possible and ensuring a sustainable, permanent ceasefire. We are pursuing the same goal in the UN Security Council, working alongside our Egyptian friends,” Lavrov said.
Criticising the unconstructive approach of the US on this issue, Lavrov emphasised that "this topic cannot be left unattended in the Security Council, as it is the main international issue today, regardless of how anyone might try to portray it otherwise."
