Iran denies reports of planned meeting with US envoy
Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei has dismissed claims of a scheduled meeting between Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and the United States Special Envoy to the Middle East.
“As of now, no date, time, or location has been determined for such a meeting,” Baghaei said while addressing reporters, Caliber.Az reports per Mehr.
Responding to a question about whether Iran has placed any preconditions on potential negotiations, he underlined Tehran's commitment to sincere diplomacy.
“Diplomacy should not be a stage for theatrics or deceit. We have always approached diplomacy seriously and in good faith,” he stated.
Baghaei also referred to military actions allegedly taken by Israel in coordination with the United States prior to the sixth round of talks, calling them a demonstration of bad faith.
He further cautioned against politicising diplomatic efforts.
“Diplomacy is an instrument and an opportunity. We must not deprive our country of this tool, which is essential for articulating Iran’s stance, defending its interests, and securing its national rights,” he said.
He emphasied that the diplomatic apparatus must also work efficiently to serve Iran’s national interests through diplomacy.
