Russia's Medvedev says his "US attack on Greenland” prediction proves right
On January 18, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev wrote on his Telegram channel that the events of recent days in global politics demonstrate the accuracy of his forecasts from 2022–2024.
As examples, he mentioned a possible "U.S. attack on Greenland," statements by French officials about leaving NATO, former Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko’s prediction that "Ukraine would not exist for more than five years," and remarks by Moldovan leadership about the "dissolution" of the republic.
“At first I thought this was just another absurd prediction like those I made in 2022–2024. But no! These are news from the last few days. The forecasts are coming true…,” Medvedev wrote.
On January 17, 2026, US President Donald Trump announced via a Truth Social post that the United States would impose 10% tariffs on all goods imported from eight European NATO allies — Denmark, Norway, Sweden, France, Germany, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, and Finland — effective February 1, 2026. The tariffs would escalate to 25% starting June 1 and remain in place "until such time as a Deal is reached for the Complete and Total purchase of Greenland."
