Extreme fire danger forecast in parts of Kazakhstan
Kazakhstan is expected to see intense heat, heavy thunderstorms, squally winds and a high to extreme fire danger on Friday, August 21, according to Kazakh media.
Daytime temperatures are forecast to reach up to 35°C in the West Kazakhstan region and western parts of the Aktobe region, 35–38°C in the Atyrau region, and up to 38°C in the Mangystau region.
Very heavy rain is expected overnight in eastern and mountainous areas of the East Kazakhstan Region. During the day, wind gusts in the area of the Alakol Lakes in the Zhetisu Region could reach 30 meters per second or more.
Overall, most of the country is expected to experience rain accompanied by thunderstorms, with hail and squally winds in some areas. Fog is possible overnight and in the morning in the north and central regions, while a dust storm is forecast in the south.
Meanwhile, high and extreme fire danger will persist in several regions, including Almaty, Turkistan, Aktobe and Pavlodar.
