Remittances from Russia to Georgia decline in July
The volume of remittances sent to Georgia in July 2026 totalled $350.05 million, up 3.9% year on year, while remittances from Russia fell 7.1% to $42 million due to problems with the Zolotaya Korona money transfer system that emerged toward the end of the month, NEWSGEORGIA reports.
The report said the United States and Italy remained the leading sources of remittances, with both countries recording growth.
Top 10 sources of remittances in July 2026 are as follows:
United States — $67.8 million (+11.2%)
Italy — $55.9 million (+0.4%)
Russia — $42.0 million (-7.1%)
Germany — $31.7 million (+8.5%)
Israel — $29.3 million (+21.6%)
Greece — $28.0 million (+7.3%)
Türkiye — $12.2 million (+21.8%)
Spain — $9.8 million (-1.9%)
Kazakhstan — $8.3 million (-4.5%)
Kyrgyzstan — $8.2 million (-27.7%)
Since the beginning of the year, remittances to Georgian banks have increased by 9.9%, reaching $2.25 billion.
Top five sources, in January-July 2026:
United States — $423.5 million (+10.7%)
Italy — $380.8 million (+8.4%)
Russia — $291.0 million (+10.7%)
Germany — $197.6 million (+14.6%)
Israel — $192.2 million (+16.9%)
