Germany’s Hesse state awards Armenian PM Hessian Peace Prize
Germany's Hesse state has awarded Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan the Hessian Peace Prize for his efforts to strengthen democratic institutions and bring Armenia closer to the European Union.
Hessian Landtag (Parliament) said as one of the leaders of the 2018 Velvet Revolution, he paved the way for parliamentary elections and has since, as prime minister, led the country on a path toward peace and integration with Europe, Caliber.Az reports.
“With the support of the United States, he also managed to sign a peace declaration with the president of neighbouring Azerbaijan in August 2025. In addition, he signed the ‘Agreement on the Establishment of Peace and Interstate Relations between the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan,’” the statement noted.
Hessian Peace Prize, awarded annually by the Albert Osswald Foundation, is worth €25,000.
It symbolises a commitment to international understanding and peace while recognising efforts toward peaceful conflict resolution.
