Pakistan, Türkiye reaffirm support for Palestine, back UK action on Israeli settlements

Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, spoke with Türkiye’s Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan late on September 9, according to Pakistan’s Foreign Office.

The two ministers reviewed bilateral relations and regional developments of mutual interest, the ministry said.

They reaffirmed their shared position on Palestine and support for a joint statement by eight Arab-Islamic countries concerning the UK’s decision to ban imports from illegal Israeli settlements and restrict services linked to such settlements.

They also backed a joint statement by the UK and other European countries on a two-state solution.

Dar and Fidan stressed the importance of maintaining close consultations on regional issues, including through the Regional Four (R4) framework with Saudi Arabia and Egypt.

The two ministers agreed to meet on the sidelines of the forthcoming United Nations General Assembly in New York.
