Russian security forces intercept terrorist plans targeting officials, police

The Russian Federal Security Service (FSB), in coordination with the Investigative Committee, has successfully disrupted preparations for terrorist attacks targeting government officials in Khabarovsk Krai and police personnel in Kabardino-Balkaria.

According to the FSB, authorities detained individuals in both regions who were planning assaults using incendiary devices and improvised explosive devices (IEDs), Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.

In Khabarovsk Krai, law enforcement intercepted a citizen of a Central Asian country, born in 1995, who intended to set fire to an administrative building. The FSB stated that the suspect had been acting under instructions from handlers affiliated with terrorist organizations.

In Kabardino-Balkaria, a local resident born in 2009 was apprehended for plotting an attack on police officers in Nalchik. Svetlana Petrenko, official spokesperson for the Investigative Committee of Russia, confirmed that the 16-year-old has been formally arrested.

The FSB emphasized that both suspects were operating under the direction of foreign coordinators linked to extremist groups. Officials noted that the interventions highlight the ongoing threat posed by externally coordinated extremist activities targeting Russian authorities and law enforcement personnel.
