The head of the linear police department at Nizhny Novgorod Airport, Namig Musayev, has been detained as part of a criminal investigation into the organisation of an illegal migration channel.
The detention of the department head was confirmed by the Transport Directorate of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Volga Federal District, Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.
It is reported that the unlawful actions of a group of individuals were uncovered by internal security operatives of the transport police, in cooperation with officers from the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) in the Nizhny Novgorod Region.
“Preliminary findings indicate that a resident of the Nizhny Novgorod Region repeatedly took steps to prevent foreign nationals who had violated Russian migration laws from being held administratively liable. To this end, he entered into illicit arrangements with active police officers at Nizhny Novgorod Airport and also involved other accomplices in the illegal activities,” the press service of the Transport Directorate of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Volga Federal District said.
If the allegations are confirmed, the individuals involved will be dismissed from the internal affairs agencies.
