Armenian prosecutors seek to confiscate assets from ex-official
The Department for Confiscation of Illegal Property of Armenia’s Prosecutor General’s Office has filed a lawsuit against former Deputy Foreign Minister Avet Adonts, seeking to seize assets allegedly obtained through illegal means.
The Anti-Corruption Court has accepted the lawsuit, which targets a range of Adonts’ assets. These include his stake in three companies, a real estate property in Yerevan, and approximately 90 million Armenian drams (around $235,000), Caliber.Az reports, citing Armenian media.
“The Anti-Corruption Court has accepted another suit of the Prosecutor General's Office for confiscation of property of illegal origin,” the official statement said.
Avet Adonts served as Armenia’s Deputy Foreign Minister from 2019 to 2021. Prior to that, he held diplomatic posts as Ambassador to the European Union, the Benelux countries (on a part-time basis), and later to Spain.
