Georgian authorities refuse to meet with Azerbaijanophobe Roth
Representatives of the ruling party Georgian Dream – Democratic Georgia see no need to meet with Bundestag (German Parliament) Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Michael Roth due to his harsh statements about the Georgian people and their faith.
This statement was made by the party's General Secretary, Kakha Kaladze, in a conversation with journalists, Caliber.Az reports, citing Georgian media.
Michael Roth, who participated in a protest rally in Tbilisi in May and referred to the ruling party "Georgian Dream" as a "Georgian nightmare," has arrived in Tbilisi. Roth announced his planned trip to Georgia and Armenia on September 16-18 via the social network X.
"This man is remembered for his offensive remarks about the Georgian people and their faith. We hear statements from him against our country and peace. Why should we meet with or talk to someone who engages in insults and spreading lies?" Kaladze said.
The politician noted that representatives of any country should speak the truth.
According to Kaladze, Roth's visit is of no interest to Georgian Dream, as the election campaign is currently in full swing.
"I don't even know the purpose of his visit to Georgia, and I'll be honest, I'm not interested, because we are involved in the election campaign, and we have daily meetings with people. What matters to me first and foremost is the population of our country," Kaladze said.
Roth was one of five European parliamentarians who participated in a protest rally in Tbilisi on May 14 against the adoption of the "Foreign Influence Transparency" law, which requires foreign-funded NGOs and media to register in a special registry and file financial declarations.
Michael Roth has repeatedly made provocative statements against Azerbaijan.
