Russian court bars opposition Yabloko party from election
A court in Russia's Sverdlovsk has barred the opposition Yabloko party from elections to the Regional Legislative Assembly following a lawsuit filed by the Liberal Democratic Party of Russia (LDPR).
Yabloko’s Sverdlovsk regional branch said the decision will be appealed, Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.
“The Sverdlovsk Regional Court ruled to uphold the LDPR’s lawsuit and remove Yabloko from the elections to the Legislative Assembly of Sverdlovsk Region. The decision will be appealed,” it noted.
Earlier, a court barred Yabloko’s candidate list from elections to the Pskov Region Legislative Assembly following a lawsuit filed by the Rodina party.
On August 27, regional newspapers had reportedly refused to publish Yabloko candidates’ election program.
