Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan set sights on $3 billion trade target

28 August 2026 13:55

Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan are aiming to increase bilateral trade turnover to $3 billion as economic ties between the two neighboring countries continue to expand.

Kyrgyz Foreign Minister Jeenbek Kulubaev said bilateral trade had risen 45% since the beginning of the year, reaching $624.6 million.

Speaking in an interview with Dunyo, Kulubaev said the two countries were also working to establish a unified payment ecosystem linking their national payment systems, a move expected to facilitate cross-border transactions and further boost trade.

He also highlighted the outcomes of the Kyrgyz-Uzbek business forum held on July 28, saying the two sides signed 16 documents covering joint projects and trade agreements.

The agreements are expected to provide additional momentum to bilateral economic cooperation and help advance the countries’ $3 billion trade target.
