Passengers stranded at Moscow airport amid flight delays PHOTO

Massive flight delays have been reported at Moscow’s Vnukovo Airport following a nighttime drone attack, with passengers saying they had been waiting for departure for more than five hours as flights were rescheduled multiple times.

Around 20 departing flights and 27 arriving flights are currently delayed, Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.

According to Vnukovo’s press service, delays were caused by restrictions on the use of airspace in several regions.

Due to airspace restrictions in the Moscow region, the airport is also temporarily operating five-minute intervals between departures. The airport and airlines are working to minimise inconvenience for passengers.

Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said overnight that two drones had been shot down on their approach to the capital. No restrictions were imposed at Vnukovo at the time.

Meanwhile, a drone struck a Magnit store in Pavlovsky Posad, Moscow Region, with the blast wave damaging a clinic.

Forty-six windows in the adult department were shattered, with two rooms sustaining the most damage. The pediatric department was not affected.

The clinic continues to receive patients as usual, with only the physiotherapy room temporarily out of service.
