Kazakhstan’s Kurultai elects Adilet leader Aibek Dadebay as chairman

Kazakhstan’s new unicameral parliament, the Kurultai, has unanimously elected Adilet party leader Aibek Dadebay as chairman.

Dadebay was elected by secret ballot, with all 145 deputies voting in his favour, according to Zhanarbek Ashimzhanov, a Kurultai deputy and chairman of the counting commission, Caliber.Az reports per foreign media.

“Following the secret ballot to elect the chairman of the Kurultai, Aibek Dadebay received the required number of votes,” Ashimzhanov said while announcing the results.

Dadebay, 46, has headed the Adilet party since May 2026. Before becoming party leader, he served as head of Kazakhstan’s Presidential Administration, presidential affairs manager and deputy presidential affairs manager.
