Armenia seeks solutions to suicides in army
Armenia’s Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport Zhanna Andreasyan has said a special working group has been established to seek solutions to a series of tragic suicides in the Armenian army.
Speaking at a press conference, Andreasyan stressed that she hopes the group’s work will help prevent similar incidents in the future, Caliber.Az reports, citing Armenian media.
As part of the effort, the ministry has already begun involving school psychologists.
Authorities are also considering changes to the school curriculum aimed at helping future conscripts develop appropriate values and attitudes, Andreasyan added.
Suicide cases in the Armenian army have increased recently. Recent reporting also indicates that Armenian authorities have been examining the causes of military suicides and other non-combat deaths.
