Azerbaijan plays key role in diversifying Bulgaria's gas supply - President Rudev

Bulgarian President Rumen Radev has emphasized the strength of the longstanding friendship and mutual trust between Bulgaria and Azerbaijan.  

“We are bound together by relations based on traditional friendship, understanding, and mutual trust. We conduct a high-level political-strategic dialogue,” Radev said in a joint press conference with President Ilham Aliyev in Baku on May 8, Caliber.Az reports, citing Azertag.

He said: “Our high-level political dialogue paves the way for ensuring economic prosperity not only for our countries but also for the Caucasus and Black Sea basin, and contributes to Europe's energy security.”

“Azerbaijan has become an important and crucial partner for Bulgaria in the energy sector and plays a key role in diversifying our country's gas supply,” President of Bulgaria Rumen Radev said in a joint press conference with President Ilham Aliyev.

Highlighting a significant milestone, Rudev said: "In the fall of 2022, with the participation of President Aliyev, we started using the gas network between Greece and Bulgaria in the city of Sofia, thereby connecting the Southern Gas Corridor to Central and Eastern Europe."
