Azerbaijan’s football clubs fined after heated premier league clash
The Association of Football Federations of Azerbaijan has fined top-flight club Qarabağ FK 8,000 manats ($4,700) following a disciplinary review of their rescheduled Matchday 21 fixture in the Azerbaijan Premier League against Neftchi PFK.
The decision by the AFFA Disciplinary Committee cited the use of abusive language by Qarabağ supporters directed at the opposing team. Officials noted that this was the fifth such incident involving the club’s fans during the current season, which contributed to the severity of the fine, Caliber.Az reports per local media.
Neftchi were also sanctioned, receiving a 700-manat fine ($410) after five of their players were shown yellow cards during the match.
The game, played in Baku, ended in a 2–1 victory for Neftchi.
