Azerbaijan to constantly hold competitions in Karabakh's liberated area of Sugovushan - minister
Azerbaijani Minister of Youth and Sports Farid Gaibov has said that sport competitions will constantly be held in Sugovushan, in the liberated area of the Karabakh region.
He made these remarks at the opening ceremony of the President's Cup Rowing Regatta-2022 dedicated to the 99th anniversary of the birthday of Azerbaijani national leader Heydar Aliyev, Report’s journalist informs from Sugovushan.
Gaibov stressed the role of martyred soldiers and veterans, as the President's Cup is being held in the liberated territories thanks to them.
He expressed confidence that the competitions will be held in Sugovushan constantly.
"According to the instructions of Supreme Commander of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces Ilham Aliyev, the Azerbaijani brave army has liberated the Karabakh region, which was under Armenia’s occupation for 30 years. Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva, during their visit to Sugovushan settlement on the eve of the Novruz holiday, watched the first training camp of rowers in the Karabakh region,” President of the Azerbaijan Rowing and Canoeing Federation Vugar Ahmadov said during the ceremony.
“All of us are proud that today we are holding the first international sports competitions in the liberated lands,” Ahmadov added.
Special Representative of the Azerbaijani president in the liberated lands of the Karabakh Economic Region Emin Huseynov stressed the importance of the competitions.
“Our native Karabakh, which was under occupation for 30 years, is reviving. We will turn this place into a paradise,” Huseynov said.
