Azerbaijan to open over 50 polling stations in liberated lands
Chairman of the Azerbaijani Central Election Commission (CEC) Mazahir Panahov has announced that voters will have access to over 50 polling stations in the liberated Azerbaijani territories.
“Of these, approximately 34 will be permanent polling stations. The commission members for these 34 permanent stations have already been appointed,” Panahov stated, Caliber.Az reports citing the local media.
“Additional polling stations will also be established in these regions. We are also seeking journalists to cover the electoral process in the liberated territories,” Panahov added.
Earlier, Panahov said that eighty-seven candidates have been registered for snap parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan.
He noted that 1,255 people have applied for participation in the snap parliamentary elections to be held on September 1.
On June 28, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev signed an order on the dissolution of the Milli Majlis (Parliament) of the sixth convocation and the call for snap parliamentary elections. According to the order, the elections will be held on September 1, 2024.
