Azerbaijani Greco-Roman wrestler Hasrat Jafarov won a bronze medal at the Summer Olympics in Paris, France.

Jafarov, competing in the 67 kg weight category, won a bronze medal in the match against Kyrgyz wrestler Amantur Ismailov, scoring 8-0, Caliber.Az reports citing the local media.

This marks the first and only medal won by the Azerbaijani wrestler at these Games so far. Additionally, judokas Hidayat Heydarov (73 kg) and Zelym Kotsoiev (100 kg) have both claimed Olympic gold, while taekwondo athlete Gashim Magomedov (58 kg) grabbed silver. Azerbaijani boxer of Cuban origin Alfonso Dominguez (92 kg) also grabbed silver by reaching the final.

The 2024 Summer Olympics, officially the Games of the 33rd Olympiad and officially branded as Paris 2024, is an ongoing international multi-sport event taking place from July 24 to August 11, 2024 in France. The Opening Ceremony was held on July 26.

The Paris Olympics sees the return of sports such as baseball/softball and karate, which were introduced in Tokyo 2020. New additions include skateboarding, sport climbing, surfing, and breaking (breakdancing), reflecting a trend towards youth-oriented and urban sports.
