Azerbaijani grandmaster becomes leader in Tata Steel Chess Tournament
The Tata Steel Chess Tournament kicked off in India on September 5, where Azerbaijan is represented by Teymur Radjabov.
There are three rounds on the first day of the tournament, where 10 chess players play rapid, according to azerisport.com.
First, Radjabov lost to finalist of the FIDE World Chess Cup 2023 Rameshbabu Praggnanandhaa from India, and then gained a victory over German chess player Vincent Kaimer and Uzbek chess player Nodirbek Abdusattorov.
At the moment, Radjabov is leading the tournament with two points.
French chess player Maxime Vachier-Lagrave, Russian chess player Alexander Grischuk, Indian chess players Santosh Vidit, Pentala Harikrishna, Arjun Erigaisi and Dommaraju Gukesh are also competing in the tournament.
The tournament will end on September 9.
