Azerbaijani Security Council: De facto peace exists despite no treaty with Armenia
Although a peace treaty with Armenia has yet to be signed, peace has been established in the region de facto, said Ramil Usubov, Azerbaijan's Secretary of the Security Council.
This statement by Usubov was published in the Azerbaijan newspaper, according to Caliber.Az.
Usubov noted that national security threats have been eliminated: "The Azerbaijani people now discuss Karabakh as a zone of large-scale construction under stable security, carrying out work of global significance.
“The Azerbaijani phenomenon has become the main regulatory factor in ensuring peace, cooperation, and security in the region. The realities created by our victory have brought new approaches and modern challenges to the forefront for the entire Caucasus and Eurasia across various fields," he said.
Usubov further said, "The system of peace, development, and security in our country and the Caucasus is a significant contribution to global security. Any processes related to Azerbaijan which is recognized as an influential state and leader on the international stage, attract attention and have a serious impact globally.”
“However, Azerbaijan's independent policy and that of its Leader cause concern and dissatisfaction among some external circles, groups, and certain states. As President Ilham Aliyev pointed out, Azerbaijan has touched 'deep layers' on the world stage. Nevertheless, the high reputation and trust that our republic has earned over the last decade through its contribution to solving global issues indicate that most states and peoples support the continuation of this independent policy.
Unfortunately, security challenges on a global level have grown more extensive in recent years. Social crises, economic downturns, civil conflicts, political discord, and even environmental disasters create security threats for states and peoples, similar to the ones posed by bloody wars. In the modern security system, all these factors are considered threats of the same level, and their interconnection is clearly visible, as one issue provokes another," added the Security Council secretary.
