Baku hosts a conference on "DigitAll: Gender equality in Innovation and Digitalisation" on March 6.

It was organised by the non-governmental organisation Gender Hub with the support of the UK and Swedish embassies in Azerbaijan, Report informs.

The event is attended by UN Resident Coordinator in Azerbaijan Vladanka Andreeva, Israeli Ambassador to Azerbaijan George Deek and Deputy Chairman of the Agency for Innovation and Digital Development under the Digital Development and Transport Ministry Inara Valiyeva.

According to Andreeva, gender equality and cybersecurity are very important topics.

"Access to the Internet is very important, as it opens up new opportunities for us all to study and career. Therefore, we need to know how to protect ourselves in cyberspace," she added.

In turn, Valiyeva spoke about the activities of the newly created structure - the Agency for Innovation and Digital Development under the Digital Development and Transport Ministry.

"Our agency was established recently, but the main focus of our activity was the Technest scholarship program, which is designed to provide free online courses for people of all ages, ranging from 1-17 years old," adding that according to last year's reports, 43 per cent of those participating in these courses were women.

The UK, Swedish and French ambassadors to Azerbaijan are also expected to speak during the conference.
