Italian PM: This year was tough, 2026 will be even worse

Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni told employees at the premier’s office at Palazzo Chigi to have a good rest over the Christmas holidays, saying they would need it ahead of a challenging year of work.

“The past year has been tough for all of us, but don't worry because next year will be even worse,” Italian media quotes Meloni as saying.

“I love you. We are a family, we fight all year round,” she said during a meeting with her staff in the courtyard of Palazzo Chigi.

“So I advise you to rest properly during these holidays because we have to continue to give responses to this extraordinary nation,” Meloni added.
