Biden issues stark warning to Iran: Assassinating Trump would mean war
U.S. President Joe Biden has directed his aides to communicate to Tehran that any attempt by Iran to assassinate Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump would be viewed as an act of aggression.
This information was disseminated by The Washington Post, citing reliable sources, Caliber.Az reports.
Biden has instructed the White House National Security Council (NSC) to alert the Iranian government to cease any plans targeting Trump and former U.S. officials. He emphasized that the U.S. would interpret any threat to Trump’s life as an act of war.
The publication also referenced comments from NSC spokesperson Sean Savett, who stated that if Iran were to carry out an attack on any current or former U.S. officials, it would face "serious consequences."
The regular general elections in the United States are scheduled for November 5, where Trump will compete against Democrat Kamala Harris for the presidency. Trump previously served as the 45th president from 2017 to 2021, losing the 2020 election to Biden, who is now seeking reelection with Harris as his running mate.
Reports indicate that there were assassination attempts against Trump in July and September. As of October 11, the Washington Post revealed that Trump is requesting military aircraft and vehicles to ensure his safety amid perceived threats from Iran.
