Bulgaria denies supplying Mig-29 jets to Ukraine for free
The Bulgarian Ministry of Defense denies media reports that the country has negotiated the donation of MiG-29 fighter jets to Ukraine, Bulgarian National Radio (BNR) reports, per Eurasia Daily.
Earlier, the American television channel CNN reported that according to leaked Pentagon documents, in February Bulgaria expressed its readiness to donate its MiG-29 fleet to Ukraine, which, according to information from the documents, is a “challenge” for Bulgaria, since this will leave the country without fighters to carry out missions air policing for as long as American F-16s are delivered, "which will happen no sooner than a year from now."
“Such a decision would lead to a shortage of capabilities, which is contrary to the country’s constitution ... In pursuance of the decision of the National Assembly of the end of 2022, the Ministry of Defense has consistently negotiated the possibility of implementing the so-called triangular agreements to replace some of the existing weapons with comparable weapons from allied countries without allowing the loss of capabilities ", - quotes the radio statement of the Ministry of Defense.
Earlier, the media wrote that the Pentagon was investigating a leak on the social network of materials describing the state of the Ukrainian troops and the plans of the United States and NATO to strengthen them. The New York Times noted that the documents, dated early March, are allegedly being distributed in “Russian pro-government telegram channels.” It was alleged that more than 100 documents could get into the Internet, and the damage from what happened is estimated as significant.
