Car accident kills 5 Greek rescue workers dispatched to flood-stricken Libya

Five Greek rescue workers who were helping in the flood-stricken Libyan city of Derna were killed in a road collision on September 18.

According to BBC, Libya’s health minister announced that a bus carrying 19 Greek rescue workers collided with a vehicle carrying five Libyan nationals on the road between the cities of Benghazi and Derna.

Three Libyans of one family in the oncoming vehicle were also killed in the accident

Among the dead Greek workers were three military officials and two civilians. Their bodies have been flown back to a military base near Athens early on September 19, together with 13 injured team members who were taken to military hospitals in the Greek capital.
