Chancellor Scholz gets thumbs down from almost half of Germany’s population
The public approval rating for Chancellor Olaf Scholz in Germany fell to an all-time low, according to a survey conducted by the country’s Institute for Public Opinion Research (INSA), Bild am Sonntag reports.
According to the results of the survey, which involved 1,002 respondents, 49 percent of the population are dissatisfied with his work. However, some 38 percent of the respondents are convinced that Scholz is doing good.
Sociologists confirmed the rating, the highest value since December 8, 2021, when Scholz took the office.
Meanwhile, 55 percent give the federal government thumbs down, while 35 percent applauded its work during nearly one and a half year.
“There is no good news for the Social Democrats on the Sunday’s survey, as well. They consistently lag behind the Union,” the publication reads.
The level of support for the Social Democratic Party in the survey was 25 percent, and the German Christian Democratic Union, as in the previous week, - 26 percent.
The survey was conducted by INSA on April 11-14.
