CIS appoints Leonid Anfimov to lead observer mission for Azerbaijani parliamentary elections

CIS First Deputy Secretary General Leonid Anfimov will head the Commonwealth observer mission at the extraordinary elections to the Milli Majlis of Azerbaijan to be held on September 1.

Anfimov's candidacy was agreed by the decision of the Council of Permanent Plenipotentiary Representatives of the CIS states, whose meeting was held on July 30, the press service of the CIS Executive Committee said, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.

"The work of the CIS Observer Mission will be based on the principles of openness, neutrality and non-interference in the electoral process and in the internal affairs of the state," the Executive Committee said.
