COP29 Azerbaijan launches technical testing phase Ensuring ICT readiness for climate summit
Preparations for the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP29) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), scheduled to take place in Baku this November, have entered a crucial phase.
Azerbaijan has commenced the technical testing phase to ensure the seamless operation of information and communication technology (ICT) systems for the upcoming event, adhering to UNFCCC protocols and standards, Caliber.Az reports.
The Proof of Concept (PoC) phase began on August 19 at Baku Stadium, where an initial event was held with the involvement of authorized representatives from the COP29 Azerbaijan Operating and the UNFCCC.
On the first day of testing, UNFCCC delegates were introduced to the available systems within the completed infrastructure, including visits to two operational database centers and aggregation and communication facilities.
Over the next three weeks, this PoC phase will rigorously evaluate the security, functionality, and efficiency of the networks and services designated for the climate conference. The testing process will cover several key areas, including the security of ICT services and wireless networks, simulations of the accreditation process, and cybersecurity evaluations. These assessments aim to identify potential risks and ensure robust technical preparations to mitigate any issues that could arise during the summit.
