Czech PM: Prague shooting not linked to international terrorism
Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala has said that the shooting in the building of Charles University is not related to terrorism and organized crime.
He called the incident "a horrifying act for which there is no justification" and expressed condolences to the relatives of the victims, according to Czech Radio.
"This was the work of a lone individual ... It is not an act of international terrorism or an organized group. I have been assured that the security forces are in full control of the situation and there is no further danger to Czech citizens," Fiala said.
A 24-year-old Czech student shot dead his father, then killed 14 people and wounded 25 others at his Prague university on December 21 before possibly killing himself, police said, marking the country's worst-ever mass shooting.
The government declared a day of mourning across the central European country for Dec. 23 to remember the victims, decided at a special cabinet meeting with President Petr Pavel.
