German petrol prices hit record high as oil surges above $107
14 September 2026 17:12
Petrol and diesel prices at German filling stations have reached record highs amid a sharp rise in global crude oil prices.
The price of a litre of Super E10 petrol climbed to €2.273, while diesel reached €2.404 per litre, surpassing the previous record set in March 2022, German media reports.
The rise has been driven in part by surging crude oil prices amid escalating tensions in the Persian Gulf region.
Brent crude was trading above $107 a barrel on the morning of September 14, while US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude was approaching $103.
