Death toll in Gaza climbs to 39,445 as Israeli attacks continue

31 July 2024 19:36

Gaza’s Health Ministry has said that at least 45 additional Palestinians have been killed in recent Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip, raising the overall death toll to 39,445 since October 7.

The ministry reported that approximately 91,073 people have been injured in the ongoing conflict, Caliber.Az reports citing the Turkish media.

In the last 24 hours alone, Israeli forces have killed 45 individuals and wounded 77 more due to the continued aggression against Gaza, the statement added.

“Many people remain trapped under rubble and on the roads, with rescuers unable to reach them,” the statement added.

Ignoring a UN Security Council resolution calling for an immediate ceasefire, Israel continues its offensive on Gaza, which began following an October 7, 2023, attack by the Palestinian group Hamas. Nearly ten months into the conflict, extensive areas of Gaza are in ruins, compounded by a severe blockade limiting access to food, clean water, and medicine.

Israel faces accusations of genocide at the International Court of Justice, which has ordered an immediate halt to military operations in Rafah, a city where over a million Palestinians had sought refuge before it was invaded on May 6.
