Hezbollah launches rocket assault on Israeli forces in Western Galilee
Hezbollah's Shiite militia has carried out a significant operation against Israeli troops stationed in the Western Galilee, responding to recent air raids on their strongholds in South Lebanon.
The communiqué from the group says that multiple rocket launchers targeted an Israeli army barracks in Zarit, with 25 Katyusha rockets being fired at the location, Caliber.Az reports via foreign media.
In addition to the rocket fire, Hezbollah utilized rocket and barrel artillery against Israeli positions in neighbouring settlements such as Hanita and Ramia. Drones from the militia also attacked an artillery base located in Kibbutz Beit Gilel.
The escalation follows Israeli Air Force strikes on Hezbollah outposts in several Lebanese areas, including Blida, Mays al-Jebel, Al-Teibi, and Al-Edeisa, which resulted in significant damage and civilian casualties.
This recent surge in violence is part of a broader conflict that began on October 7, 2023, when Hamas launched a large-scale rocket attack from the Gaza Strip into Israel and invaded southern border areas. In response, Israel initiated retaliatory strikes against targets in Gaza. Since then, Hezbollah, backed by Iran, has intensified its attacks on Israel from the north, contributing to ongoing regional instability.
