Erdogan to raise issue of Russian “Mir” cards’ functioning in Türkiye

A decision on the operation of the cards of the Russian payment system "Mir" in Türkiye can be made on September 23.

Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan made the remarks on September 22. according to TASS.

“The most important moment with these cards was the launch [of operations in Türkiye] of a payment system called Mir. It was a step between Russia and us. We are evaluating with relevant colleagues the steps we will take on this issue. Of course, we have an alternative, but this is a separate [topic]. The problem is the different versions of these [US] sanctions. Of course, this does not correspond to friendship and our economic relations. What are we going to do now and what are the alternatives? Our ministers are negotiating these alternatives. After the talks on Friday [on September 22], when I gather relevant colleagues in Istanbul, we will make a final decision,” the Turkish leader said.
