Europe's exchange gas prices up 1%
The cost of gas futures in Europe is rising by about 1 per cent on June 2, holding $260 per thousand cubic metres, according to data from London's ICE exchange.
According to Prime, the July futures on the TTF index (Europe's largest hub, located in the Netherlands) opened trading at $255 per thousand cubic metres (-0.2 per cent).
Currently, the gas price is $258.3 (+1.1 per cent). The dynamics of quotations are based on the settlement price of the previous trading day - $255.6 per thousand cubic metres.
The exchange prices were jumping by nearly 10 per cent (over $300) on May 31, following media reports about the shutdown of Norwegian Equinor's Hammerfest LNG plant due to a gas leak. However, they got back to $260 on June 1, sliding down by 13 per cent in the end of trading.
