Trump claims Putin seeks meeting to end Russia-Ukraine war
On December 22, president-elect Trump said Putin wants to meet to talk about how to end the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine at USA's AmericaFest in Phoenix.
"That war is a horrible, horrible...Millions of soldiers have died now, millions,” Trump said during first rally-style event since winning the election last month, Caliber.Az reports via foreign media.
Trump expressed that if he had been president, the war would have never happened.
“We're seeing numbers that are just crazy. Got to stop it. It's ridiculous," he stressed.
Meanwhile, on December 16 Trump stated that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy should be ready to strike a deal with Russian President Vladimir Putin to end the nearly three-year-long war in Ukraine.
"There's got to be a deal," Trump remarked during a press conference at his Mar-a-Lago club in Palm Beach, Florida.
Trump added that he would engage in discussions with both Putin and Zelenskyy to bring the conflict to a close, expressing his concern over the horrific scenes of devastation resulting from the war.
