Indirect Iran–US talks may take place in March, Reuters says

Indirect negotiations between Iran and the United States could take place in March, a senior Iranian official told Reuters.

The official added that the talks could lead to the conclusion of a temporary agreement, Caliber.Az cites the Western news giant.

According to the official, Tehran and Washington have differing views on the scope and mechanism for lifting sanctions on Iran.

He also indicated that Iran may seriously consider exporting part of its stock of highly enriched uranium, diluting its purity, and creating a regional uranium enrichment consortium. In return, he said, the right of Iran to peaceful uranium enrichment would need to be recognized.

On February 17-18, 2026, the United States and Iran held a second round of indirect nuclear negotiations in Geneva, mediated by Oman’s diplomatic mission. US and Iranian delegations, including senior envoys, met to discuss Tehran’s nuclear program and the potential lifting of sanctions. Both sides reported that “progress” and an understanding on guiding principles were reached during the talks, although no final agreement was concluded.
