US special envoy pledges "good news" on Ukraine talks in coming weeks
US President Donald Trump’s special envoy, Steve Witkoff, expressed hope that a new round of negotiations on ending war in Ukraine could take place within the next three weeks, he told Fox News in an interview.
According to Witkoff, this could lead to a meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
“We are hopefull, Jared and I, that we have put some proposals on the table to both sides. They will bring them together in the next three weeks and may be even result in a summit between Zelenskyy and President Putin,” he said.
The special envoy added that at some point, the meeting could take on a trilateral format with the US president participating if he is confident that he can “consumate this and get the best result.”
Witkoff also noted that “good news” regarding the resolution of the Ukraine conflict could emerge in the coming weeks.
