Formula 1: George Russell tops third free practice in Baku
The third free practice session at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix Formula 1 event in Baku concluded with Mercedes driver George Russell achieving the fastest time.
Russell's performance secured him the top spot, showcasing impressive speed and skill, Caliber.Az reports.
During the session, Esteban Ocon of Alpine encountered technical issues when his car lost power while accelerating out of Turn 16. This caused a brief interruption as officials cleared debris from the track.
Additionally, the session saw a dramatic incident involving Haas driver Oliver Berman, whose car crashed into the barriers. Despite the setbacks, the session provided crucial data for teams ahead of the main races.
The Azerbaijan Grand Prix continues with the main events scheduled for September 15, where both the Formula 1 and Formula 2 winners will be determined.
The Azerbaijan Grand Prix held annually at the Baku City Circuit since 2017, is expected to attract record-breaking global viewership this year. The Baku City Circuit Operations Company has noted that approximately 300 journalists, including around 200 international media representatives from prominent outlets such as Sky Sports, Motorsport, Canal+, Netflix, and The Sun, are covering the event.
