German military aid to Ukraine slashed amid budget cuts - media
Germany is facing a significant reduction in military aid to Ukraine due to a lack of additional funding.
The German media cites a letter from Finance Minister Christian Lindner, indicating that current budget constraints and austerity measures have limited the country's ability to provide further financial support, Caliber.Az reports.
According to the report, the decision to restrict additional military aid stems from budgetary constraints imposed by the Federal Chancellor's Office and the Ministry of Finance. Although military equipment previously approved will continue to be delivered to Kyiv, new requests for support from the Ministry of Defence will not be granted under Chancellor Olaf Scholz's administration. The budget freeze has already been implemented, and the impact on Ukraine is expected to worsen in the coming years.
The situation is set to deteriorate further, with planned military support anticipated to be nearly halved by 2025 and reduced to less than one-tenth of its current level by 2027.
