Al Jazeera claims number of aid trucks let into Gaza insufficient to meet demands
A total of 7,926 trucks carrying aid have entered the Gaza Strip in the 11 days of the ceasefire, a number below what is required for the Palestinian population.
This assessment was published by the Al Jazeera network, citing unnamed internal sources. According to their reporting, about two-thirds of the trucks carried food supplies, while 208 trucks were carrying tents needed for the set-up for temporary accommodation for the residents, many of which have lost their homes to the fighting.
Al Jazeera claims that the supplies brought to the enclave are much lower than needed. Their sources told them that the entry of 197 fuel trucks into the Strip does not benefit the civil defence, municipalities or electricity companies.
The report further notes that no heavy machinery or equipment has been brought into Gaza to remove rubble and search for bodies, and no building materials have been brought in for restoration and rehabilitation.
As Caliber.Az recalls, the Israeli army is conducting checks on the supplies at the border crossings into Gaza and has prohibited a number of goods from entering, fearing that they could be hi-jacked by Hamas militants to be used for the fighting instead of being delivered to the civilian population.
