UN Charter group condemns US over Venezuelan tanker seizure
The Group of Friends in Defense of the Charter of the United Nations has condemned the United States over the seizure of an oil tanker off the coast of Venezuela, Venezuelan Foreign Minister Yvan Gil announced on his Telegram channel.
The organisation’s communiqué slams a new and serious aggression against Venezuela and calls for the immediate release of the vessel and its crew, Gil says, per Caliber.Az.
It condemned the US for the use of military force to intercept a ship engaged in lawful commercial activities, Gil added.
The minister said the Group's statement reaffirms full respect for the "defence of international law, the sovereignty of peoples, freedom of navigation, and regional peace, and demands the immediate cessation of unilateral coercive actions against the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela."
